Why didn't my model work out?

We recommend paying careful attention to the quality of the photos you take during the scanning process with our app. The photo quality directly affects the final result and the accuracy of the generated 3D model. Therefore, we kindly ask you to approach this process responsibly and avoid a haphazard approach to photography.

When scanning an object, it is recommended to move around it, capturing photos from various angles using your device. We urge you to pay special attention to the following recommendations, as they will help you achieve the best results:

  1. Lighting: Ensure even lighting without glare. Be cautious with the use of flash, as it may create unwanted shadows.
  2. Object Stability: Avoid holding the object in your hands during scanning. It is better to suspend it or place it on a stable surface to capture it from all sides and create a complete 3D model.
  3. Stability: Maintain stable hands during the capture process. Avoid camera shake or object movement.
  4. Focus: Ensure the camera is focused specifically on the scanning object.
  5. Full Object Coverage: When scanning, don't limit yourself to capturing photos from one side only. It is important to capture the object from all possible angles.
  6. Avoid object movement during the scanning process.
  7. Contrast Background and Substrate: Provide a contrasting background and a uniform substrate. This will help better define the contours of the object.
  8. Avoid Object Overlap: Ensure that all parts of the object are fully visible and not obscured by other objects.
  9. Considerations for Scanning People: When scanning a person, it is recommended to maintain a still facial expression and avoid excessive gestures. It is important for the person to stand still, with their entire head captured in the frame, including the crown. Avoid scanning your own body, as capturing yourself entirely without any shifts during scanning can be challenging. Additionally, it is preferable not to scan individual body parts, as isolating them from the rest of the details in the background during scanning may pose certain difficulties.
  10. Object Isolation from the Background: Ensure clear separation of the object from the background. Avoid cluttered or textured backgrounds to prevent scanning distortions.
  11. Objects with Limited Texture: Our algorithm may encounter difficulties when scanning single-color or homogeneous objects as they may not provide enough information for obtaining high-quality results.
  12. Transparent Materials Exclusion: Transparent objects made of glass or plastic can be challenging to scan and may not provide sufficient information for creating a 3D model.
  13. Distance: If the object is small, get closer to it to achieve a more detailed scan.
  14. Scanning Objects with Holes or Spatial Defects: If the object has holes, and the scanning does not yield satisfactory results, capture those areas in more detail for a more accurate reconstruction.
  15. Substrate: Use a homogeneous and contrasting substrate without textures or patterns. A matte surface or a material with minimal reflectivity is preferred. The color of the substrate should contrast with the color of the object.
  16. Substrate Evenness and Stability: The substrate should be flat, stable, clean, and smooth to prevent distortions and additional noise.
  17. Substrate Size: The larger the substrate size, the better. Using the floor as a substrate can yield good results.
  18. Object Placement on the Substrate: Position the object in the center of the substrate for better uniform scanning.

We hope that these recommendations will assist you in achieving optimal scanning results. If you have any further questions or require additional assistance, please feel free to contact us. We are here to help.

Only 3 free scans? Is it possible to get more?

  • Remember that you can enjoy 3 free scans to test and explore the app, + you can subscribe to us on social networks, make a repost, inform us about it through the feedback form inside the application by attaching a link - and receive 10 additional free scans for activity in each of the social networks. List of our social networks:

  • Also, you can receive 1000 additional scans for free by writing an article or creating a video about us and promoting us on your social media or blog.

Premium Subscription

  • By purchasing a premium subscription, you can increase the limit of scans to 300 per month. 10 scans are credited to your account every day.
  • You receive the highest priority in the server-side processing queue.
  • Cloud backup: all your models will be stored in the cloud on our servers.
  • Best result: up to 200 photos for camera mode.
  • Import photo from a drone or professional camera.
  • Point Cloud Shooting with Lidar.

Why wait so long for a finished model?

The processing time can vary depending on the current queue. In the free version, there might be longer processing times due to the higher demand. However, in our premium version, you can enjoy faster processing times. Premium subscribers fund our project, which allows them to benefit from accelerated priority processing and additional features.

Why did I not get a model after scanning was completed, and it says “ERROR”?

We apologize for the inconvenience. Error can occur due to low-quality photos provided, or there were mistakes done during scanning process. Let us check this, please contact us through the feedback form within the app, and also duplicate your request to magiscan.app@gmail.com. Check scanning recommendations again please.

When is the deadline for the lifetime?

There is no deadline for a lifetime, as long as the application is available in the store - you have premium.

How is it possible to have a real size model?

At the moment the application does not scan in real size. Try opening the model in blender. And scale the model.

In what format should I export it to blender?

Export in gltf/glb format. Blender has support for these formats: https://docs.blender.org/manual/en/2.80/addons/io_scene_gltf2.html.

Where can I find out how MagiScan works with Omniverse?

Omniverse guide: slcpanthers@gmail.com

+There are instructions on our website: https://magiscan.app/3d-scanner-omniverse.html

It says that it can use depth camera, can it really?

On Android - we don’t use it.

I have two devices, can I use my subscription on both?

At the moment, the binding is to one device.

How to scan a small object like a dice for example, or some small details of an object?

Unfortunately, objects that are too small cannot be scanned, but you can take photos using a standard camera using zoom or using a professional camera with an appropriate lens, then you can purchase premium and import photos from the gallery and the application will make a 3D model out of them.

Can Magiscan be uploaded to Linkedin and/or Sketchfab?

At the moment there is no direct opportunity to do this. But you can export the usdz or glb/gltf model and submit it to sketchfab via their website upload tool.

Can I scan using a turntable?

Unfortunately, our algorithm is designed for scanning stationary objects. But, we are working to improve the performance of the turntable mode. Well, at the moment, you can try to get results if you comply with the following conditions, but it may not be as good as desired:

- the background will be uniform and light

- you will scan using the manual mode

Turn the table 5 degrees, take a picture, and so on.

How to share many files?

There is no way to share several files at once, only one at a time.

I have no problem with internet connection but the app says check your connection?

Most likely there were technical works on the server, which is why this error occurred. If the situation does not change soon, please write to us at magiscan.app@gmail.com so that we can contact you.
